Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of the Ananda Lodge website, forms, and online communications. They also explain how website use differs from applying for and taking part in a retreat, which carry their own agreements.

1. About these Terms

Ananda Lodge Costa Rica ("Ananda Lodge," "we," "us," or "our") operates a retreat center in Playa Grande, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, and the website at anandalodgecr.com (the "Site"). By using the Site or submitting any of our forms, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Three stages, three sets of terms

Your relationship with Ananda Lodge moves through three stages. Each stage adds its own terms.

1. Website visitorBrowsing the Site, reading our content, taking our quiz, or subscribing to our newsletter. These Terms and our Privacy Policy apply.

2. Retreat applicant and customerBooking a discovery call, completing enrollment documents and health screening, registering, and paying. These Terms apply, plus the booking, payment, and cancellation terms presented when you register.

3. Retreat participantPreparing for, attending, and integrating after a retreat. Your signed Informed Consent, Safety and Liability Waiver, Medical Screening and Health Form, and Retreat Participation Agreement govern your participation.

If these Terms conflict with your booking terms or any participant document you sign, the more specific document controls for that subject. These Terms govern the Site itself.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site, submit our forms, or apply for a retreat. By using the Site, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4. Educational information only

Content on the Site, in our newsletter, and in our guides is offered for education and reflection. It is not medical, psychological, or legal advice, and it does not create a provider and patient relationship. Always consult a qualified health professional before changing medications or making decisions about your health.

Every person's experience is unique. Descriptions of retreats, medicines, and guest stories share individual experiences and are no promise or guarantee of any result.

5. Plant medicine and the law

Our ceremonies take place in Costa Rica. Laws regarding psilocybin, ayahuasca, San Pedro, and related substances differ by country, state, and city. You are responsible for knowing and following the laws that apply to you, including laws about microdosing or traveling with any substance. Nothing on the Site encourages unlawful activity.

6. Applying for a retreat

Booking a discovery call or completing enrollment documents does not guarantee a place at a retreat.
We screen every applicant for safety and fit. Acceptance is at our sole discretion, and we may decline or defer an application for any reason, including medical or psychological considerations.
You agree to give complete, accurate, and honest information, including your full health history and current medications, and to tell us promptly if anything changes. Your safety depends on it.

7. Registration and payment

Registration, deposits, payments, cancellations, transfers, and refunds are handled through our booking platform and governed by the terms presented when you register. Prices and availability may change until your registration and deposit are confirmed.

8. Participation in a retreat

Before attending, every participant must sign our Informed Consent, Safety and Liability Waiver, Medical Screening and Health Form, and Retreat Participation Agreement. Those documents describe the nature and risks of ceremonial work, your responsibilities, our responsibilities, and how disputes about participation are resolved. Taking part in a retreat requires that you accept them.

9. Communications

When you submit a form, you agree that we may contact you about your submission.
Newsletter and marketing emails go only to people who subscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
If you agree to receive text messages, we may send appointment reminders and retreat updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to texts is not required to attend a retreat.

10. Your submissions and testimonials

You keep ownership of what you share with us. If you send a testimonial, photo, or video and give us permission to share it, you grant Ananda Lodge a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, edit for length and clarity, and display it in our marketing, with your name shown as you choose. You may withdraw permission at any time for future use by contacting us. We will not publish health details from your submission.

11. Our content

The Site and its text, photographs, graphics, logos, guides, and other materials belong to Ananda Lodge or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view and share our content for personal, non-commercial use with credit. Any other use requires our written permission.

12. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Submit false information or impersonate anyone.
Submit information about another person without their permission.
Interfere with the Site, attempt unauthorized access, or introduce harmful code.
Scrape, copy, or republish our content for commercial purposes.
Use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

13. Third-party services

The Site links to and relies on services run by others, such as our booking platform, scheduling and video tools, and social media. Their own terms and privacy policies govern your use of them, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

14. Disclaimers

The Site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Ananda Lodge and its owners, team, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or its content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). This section applies to use of the Site. Liability for retreat participation is governed by your participant documents.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ananda Lodge and its owners, team, and partners from claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about these Terms or the Site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Collier County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Disputes about retreat participation are governed by your participant documents. Nothing here limits rights you have under the mandatory laws of the place where you live.

18. General terms

Changes: we may update these Terms and will post the new version here with a new date. Continued use of the Site means you accept the updated Terms.
Severability: if any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No waiver: our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Entire agreement: these Terms and our Privacy Policy are the full agreement about your use of the Site.
